- Eye catching imagery and showing off values
- related images and soundtrack - something which draws people in to watching the rest of the movie
- not to let the opening to drag out too long or it will lose viewers attention but not too short either
- don't introduce too many characters, try to leave something for surprise
- an appropriate order of titles and have name of film at the beginning or roughly close to that
- a unique story line, something original, not used before
